Inspired by beauty in the landscape, I seek a bold yet quiet impression of everyday nature — as the colors of sky, earth and water converge on the horizon.
As a student at North Carolina State's School of Design, my studies included both design and fine art fundamentals. In 2007 after a career in graphic design, I fulfilled a lifelong dream and became a full-time artist. While I reside in the Triangle area of North Carolina, I'm fortunate to spend much time at Sunset Beach, near my hometown, Tabor City, in the southeastern part of the state. My ancestors were early settlers of this region and at the coast I feel at home, finding inspiration for my landscape paintings. Mostly self-taught as an oil painter, I describe my art as glimpses of everyday nature — I enjoy creating from observation, memory and imagination.
